A federal jury in Los Angeles has convicted 73-year-old Samir Ousman Alsheikh, a former Syrian prison official, of conspiracy to commit torture and three counts of torture for overseeing severe abuse at Adra Prison during Bashar al-Assad’s rule from 2005 to 2008.
