The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Government, Press Council of India, and a media house over a petition seeking to prevent media disclosure of a 17-year-old minor’s identity in the February 3, 2026, Dwarka road accident that killed 23-year-old Sahil.

The minor’s father argued that media exposure violated constitutional rights to privacy and dignity, citing online threats.

While the court upheld press freedom and rejected a full media gag, it ruled that the minor’s identity must be protected under the Juvenile Justice Act, directing media and social platforms to refrain from revealing personal details, including for character certificates.
