The Merck Foundation’s 12th Africa Asia Luminary conference in The Gambia, co-chaired by Gambian First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow and CEO Dr. Rasha Kelej, strengthened partnerships with Senegal to expand girl education and healthcare.

The “Educating Linda” program was launched to award 40 annual scholarships to underprivileged, high-performing schoolgirls, while 29 medical scholarships were given to Senegalese doctors in critical fields like oncology and diabetes.

The foundation has awarded 2,500 scholarships across 52 countries since 2012.
