The Youth and Women Empowerment (YOWE) project in Ghana’s Lower Manya Krobo Municipality reduced HIV treatment default rates from 35% in May 2024 to 23% by May 2025, re-enrolling 591 people into care through community outreach and trained volunteers.

The initiative, funded by the STAR Ghana Foundation and supported by local health institutions, improved data accuracy, addressed stigma, and provided counseling to 3,273 people living with HIV.
