The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has urged the government to expedite presidential assent for the National Commission for Minorities Bill, approved by Parliament in May 2025, warning that delays risk deepening discrimination against religious minorities.
The commission emphasized the bill’s importance in establishing an inclusive, independent body representing all communities, particularly those targeted by extremism.
HRCP called for transparency on any presidential objections and stressed that without the commission, marginalized groups remain vulnerable, undermining constitutional rights and Pakistan’s international human rights commitments.
