A Scottish activist sprayed paint on two planes at Stansted Airport, aiming to pressure Taylor Swift on climate change, though the jets weren’t hers.
Jennifer Kowalski, a 29-year-old Just Stop Oil activist from Scotland, told a UK court she and fellow activist Cole Macdonald sprayed orange paint on two aircraft at Stansted Airport in Essex, intending to target Taylor Swift’s jet to urge her to speak out on climate change.
The planes they painted belonged to an insurance company and an investment group, not Swift’s.
Kowalski, a former Swift fan, said she hoped the act would “shake” the singer and other celebrities from a perceived “place of apathy” on climate issues, though she acknowledged the hope was unrealistic.
Both activists deny charges of criminal damage.
